Maharaja Jitendra Narayan Medical College and Hospital, Coochbehar (previously known as Coochbehar Government Medical College and Hospital) is a new Government Medical Institute affiliated to WBUHS, established in this remote northern part of West Bengal in the district of Coochbehar.
It started its humble begining in the year 2017-18 with the upgradation of the existing District Hospital (MJN Hospital).
The institute started its official academic activities with the admission of the First batch of 100 MBBS students in 2019-20 session after having permission from the Medical Council of India.
It was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, Smt. Mamata Bandopadhaya on 22nd February, 2019 which is observed as the "Foundation day" every year.
It is running various Paramedical courses under State Medical Faculty.
Various Post Graduate DNB Degree and Diploma courses are running successfully from 2021-2022 session having approval of NBE.
It is running a hospital of about 400+ beds with all the broad specialities ,Emergency sercvices & Investigation facilities including setups for Covid patients and Critical care facilities. It has a separate MCH Hub to take care of the mothers ,new borns and critically ill paediatric patients.
It has the unique facility for RT PCR testing laboratory working round the clock with an untiring efficient team. It has done more than 3 lakh tests since its inception, which we can boast of and is a landmark performance in the state for the cause of Covid detection and management.
It is well managed competently by our efficient Faculties, Medical officers, Paramedics and support staffs with their sincere efforts and experience.
In coming days it will be one of the premier medical establishment in this remote area of the state with state of art care and facilities.
